TREND WALK 2011

To create the exhibit, hospitality designers and design firms were invited to submit renderings showcasing one of eight trends forecasted by Stacy Garcia. The Stacy Garcia Design Studio reviewed each concept, and the four winning designs were selected based on how well each design represented the trend and inspired the viewer, through an original and creative concept. Trend Walk was located in the connector between the International Hotel, Motel + Restaurant Show and BDNY.

Acid Hip

Rebellious and bright, Acid Hip, is modern and bold. The collection gives off good vibes with blinding brights while neon hues add a blast of hyper color into the future. Playing on color and light, this hipster has edge. Detailing the counter-culture appeal with blocks of color and lacquered finishes, Acid Hip knows how to stand out.

Calcified

Calcified is a laboratory for nature’s forgotten, acting as a microscope to focus in on the beauty of nature’s scientific processes. The natural process of fossils. The feeling and touch of dusty chalk and matte texture transposed onto skeletal structures and honeycomb shapes. Playing with the cellular scale by enlarging the small and minimizing the large, Calcified features a neutral palette with hints of color.

Dark Fairytale

Being allured into a dark forest by a beam of light, an old Mansion with a sole chandelier, a twisted Castle window, it's the concept of using light to create mood. A darkened evolution of Femme Fatale, Dark Fairytale, conveys a different version of 'Happily Ever After'. The collection is guided by Gothic influence with deep purple and seductive hues. Dramatic embellishments add to the mystique and intrigue.

Mid-Century Ideal

The lure of Madison Avenue and the social mores of America in the 1960's. Mid-century Ideal is a romanticized view of what life was like during this time. It represents the changing atmosphere of an era with muted tones and stand-out patterns. Echoed by shaped geometrics and structured designs in leathers and greys. A nostalgic return to the past using colors of classic camels and lipstick reds driven by the idea to simplify and return to old family values.
